Day 1 — The Heart of the Medina
Day 1 · Morning to Night
Souks, Palaces & Djemaa el-Fna
Morning (8–11am): Start at the Koutoubia Mosque at sunrise — the minaret glows golden in the early light. Walk to the Djemaa el-Fna square before the crowds arrive.
Mid-morning (11am–1pm): Dive into the souks. Follow the smell of leather to the tanneries, discover the spice souk, watch craftsmen in the woodworking quarter.
Lunch (1–2:30pm): Eat on the rooftop of Café des Épices overlooking the Rahba Kedima spice square. Order the tagine — unforgettable.
Afternoon (2:30–6pm): Visit Bahia Palace and El Badi Palace. The ruins of El Badi at golden hour are extraordinary.
Evening (from 7pm): Djemaa el-Fna transforms at night — food stalls, storytellers, snake charmers. Eat dinner here for the full experience.
💡 Local Tip
"Hire a guide for the souks on your first morning — just 2 hours with a local guide will teach you how to navigate the medina, what things should cost, and reveal alleys no tourist ever finds alone."
Day 2 — Gardens, Hammam & Culture
Day 2 · Full Day
Majorelle, Hammam & Hidden Gems
Early morning (8–10am): Majorelle Garden — arrive at opening before tour groups. The cobalt blue against the lush green is extraordinary. YSL Museum is next door.
Mid-morning (10am–12pm): Saadian Tombs and Mellah (Jewish quarter). The ornate tombs were sealed for 200 years and rediscovered in 1917.
Lunch (12–2pm): Riad Yima for lunch — owned by artist Hassan Hajjaj, full of color and character. One of Marrakech's most unique spaces.
Afternoon (2–5pm): Traditional hammam experience. We recommend Hammam de la Rose — private, authentic, transformative.
Evening: Sunset from a rooftop bar with Atlas Mountain views. Le Salama or Nomad are our favourites.
Day 3 — Day Trip or Deep Dive
Day 3 · Your Choice
Ourika Valley or More Marrakech
Option A — Ourika Valley Day Trip: 45 minutes from Marrakech, the Ourika Valley offers Berber villages, waterfalls and Atlas Mountain scenery. Perfect half-day escape.
Option B — Deeper Marrakech: Medersa Ben Youssef (stunning Islamic architecture), the Marrakech Museum, and the ancient tanneries of Chouara.
Final evening: Splurge on one exceptional dinner. La Maison Arabe or Dar Yacout — traditional Moroccan cuisine in a riad setting.
Essential Marrakech Tips
- Dress modestly in the medina — shoulders and knees covered shows respect and you'll get better treatment from locals
- Bargain in the souks — start at 30% of the asking price. It's expected and part of the culture
- Avoid fake guides — they'll offer to show you around for free and take you to commission shops. Book a real guide through us
- Stay in the medina if possible — waking up inside the old city is a completely different experience
- Carry small change — many small stalls and tips are best paid in coins or small notes
