About This Tour
A full day journey from Marrakech to Fez — 300 kilometres through the Middle Atlas mountains, arriving in the world's largest living medieval city.
Fez el Bali is unlike any other city in Morocco. The medina has been continuously inhabited since the 9th century. The souk system is organized by guild exactly as it was in the medieval era. The Chouara tanneries — where leather has been processed by hand in stone vats for 1,000 years — are one of the most extraordinary working sites in the world.
Your expert guide covers the Chouara tanneries viewed from above, the 14th-century Bou Inania Medersa (entrance included), the Al-Attarine spice souk, the Al-Qarawiyyin mosque complex (oldest university on earth) and the deep medina alleyways where no tour group has ever been.
Return to Marrakech in the evening via the Middle Atlas cedar forests.
