Marrakech Sahara Desert Tours

Multi-day private Sahara tours that begin and end in Marrakech.

These are multi-day Sahara tours that start in Marrakech — private overland journeys to the great dunes and back, not day trips. (For Marrakech day tours and shorter experiences, our sister brand To Discover Marrakech handles those.)

The classic Marrakech Sahara tour is a round-trip to Erg Chebbi near Merzouga: over the Tizi n'Tichka pass, past Aït Ben Haddou, through Ouarzazate and the Dadès Valley, then out to the dunes for a camel trek and a night in camp before looping back. Three days covers it comfortably; five days adds a second desert night and a slower return through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.

What a Marrakech Sahara tour includes

  • Private vehicle and driver for the whole route
  • A sunset camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes
  • A night in a desert camp — Comfort, Premium or Luxury
  • Kasbahs, gorges and Berber villages along the way

If you'd rather finish in Fes instead of returning to Marrakech, see Marrakech to Merzouga and the 4-day one-way route. To choose your season, read the best time to visit Morocco.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a day trip to the desert?

No. The Sahara is too far from Marrakech for a day trip — the dunes are a full day's drive each way. These are multi-day tours with at least one night in the desert. For Marrakech day trips, visit our sister site To Discover Marrakech.

Do Marrakech Sahara tours return to Marrakech?

They can do either. A round-trip returns you to Marrakech; a one-way route can finish in Fes so you don't retrace the drive. We'll match the format to your flights.
